Lesson 3: Output Format

← Core Skills
← PreviousNext →

What you'll learn

Specify the structure and key elements of the output so you get usable results without reformatting.

Why it matters

  • Format mismatches waste time on manual reformatting.
  • Clear structure makes outputs immediately actionable.
  • Defined elements reduce missing or vague sections.

The rule

  • Always specify format: bullets, table, numbered list, sections, or schema.
  • Name the key elements (e.g. Executive Summary, Top 3 Drivers, Recommendations).
  • Include examples when the format is non-standard or complex.

Bad vs better

Bad:

Give me insights on customer churn.

Better:

Analyze churn and provide: **Executive Summary** (2–3 sentences); **Key Findings** (3 bullets with %); **Root Causes** (numbered list with evidence); **Recommended Actions** (table: Action, Owner, Timeline, Expected Impact).

Copy/paste template

Copy/paste template

2. [Section/element name]: [what it contains]
[Add table column names or bullet structure if needed.]

  • ✓Key elements are named and described.
  • ✓Length or row limits specified if relevant.
  • ✓Example included when format is unusual.
