Optimization & Quality

CLEAR principles and the iteration loop. Refine and evaluate prompts systematically.

CLEAR quality framework

Use CLEAR as a checklist on any prompt. It complements structural frameworks (CORE, RTSCEN, etc.).

  • Concise: Clear language; drop filler and vague words.
  • Logical: Instructions in order; no contradictions.
  • Explicit: Role, format, audience, success criteria; examples when patterns matter.
  • Adaptive: Plan to refine based on outputs.
  • Reflective: Evaluate results and document what works.

Iteration loop

  1. Start with a framework (role, task, context, format).
  2. Test with real data.
  3. Evaluate: accuracy, relevance, format, tone.
  4. Refine one gap at a time (e.g. add constraint or example).
  5. Document and save the working prompt.
